A weight-lifter is not sent to a chess tournament

Our yesterday guests of the club “Vzglyad” were doctor of medical sciences Henry Bakunts and doctor of economic sciences Grigor Vahanyan are in the second and the third places in the proportional electoral roll of Orinats Erkir Party in the elections of the Council of the Elders of Yerevan.  

H.Bakunts has been working in the field of healthcare for 35 years, though he finds that work in council of elders of Yerevan will give a new opportunity to rise questions that have been gathered in the system of healthcare. “I think that in nowadays conditions the point of view that a doctor should not be involved in politics is inferior. During last 20 years many questions that need an answer have been gathered. I think that I can be useful in solving of questions in the healthcare system”.    

G. Vahanyan has been working in the field of executive system for many years and wants to offer his knowledge for the welfare of our city: “The mayor and members of council of elders- are representatives of institutions of local governing. In this aspect it’s very important to use a right strategy, methods and instruments of governing. I worked in the system of city governing; I am the author of scientific works concerning the models of governing strategy and their usage”. According to him a high professional readiness will be important in these elections.

The best weight-lifter is not sent to a chess tournament but the best chess player. For achieving success in candidate race in council of elders of Yerevan in the first places of its list the party included high-qualified specialists who are aware of problems of the capital economics. “We think that we can realize serious changes for the better in city life, as we are professionals in our field and simply do not have rivals”. 

H.Bakunts didn’t agree that after building a coalition after presidential elections Orinats Erkir Party electorate has undergone serious quantitative changes: “I don’t think that the number of our confederates has reduced. Just the opposite, new people come daily who have not yet been involved in politics but today express their interest in our programs and want to be useful in their realization. These people work in different fields of science, healthcare, culture. What about joining the coalition, our bitter experience of last 20 years shows that the strategy of street meetings isn’t for the common good. Fusion with the coalition might be unexpected for the society, but I think that it was a right step and gave party the opportunity to realize its programs”.  

According to H.Bakunts, after March elections Orinats Erkir Party is ready to continue cooperation with all political parties in Council of Elders that will manage to pass the 7% threshold: “I think it’s right that the opposition and the government may make an agreement in the process of solving problems that bother society”. 

If Ter-Petrosyan and Vazgen Manukyan could make an agreement after the elections in 1996, it would be possible to prevent the course of further objectionable events: “Why should we be divided into camps that are intolerably set against each other. I condemn this phenomenon”.

According to representative of Orinats Erkir Party in the elections of 2008 the picture was different: “Cooperation was offered, but political forces, supporting one of the candidates, didn’t manage to make an agreement and went to streets. And how it all ended- we all know well”. 

G.Vahanyan assured that they will be presented by the voters with a well-designed program: “Our program is competitive, scientific, practical and concrete from the point of view of its realization. We think that the program includes questions that bother the society and strategic goals that we want to reach”.
