Verishen is one of the
ancient settlements of Syunik. There are ancient tombs of the
1st millenium B. C., a church of 4-5 cc, canyon dwellings
of 10-20 cc, khachkars of 1509, a church of 17-18 cc in the village.
Sb. Hripsime church built in the 4th-5th
centuries is one of the well-known monuments of Verishen. The church with its strictly stretched proportions,
five arched niches, semicircular temple is the biggest among the
monuments of the same structure. The church is 23.3 m long. In
1621 the church was completely reconstructed. The inscriptions
on it are preserved. The recently baptized church of Verishen
was built in the 17th-18th centuries.
