Cold mountainous climate

   Cold mountainous climate is typical to the high altitudes at 3300-3500m above the sea level. The medium air temperature is below –2C. In winters steady, lasting and deep snow cover is formed. In January the medium air temperature is below –16C, the minimum temperature is –46C. Summers are short and cool. In July-August the medium air temperature is +10C, the maximum temperature is +30C. Autumns are short and cold. Snowstorms and fogs are frequent. Annual rainfall amount is 700mm.

    The climate is unfavourable for farming. The land is used only as subalpine and Alpine pastures or hay-field.
