The International relations of the Institute date back not one decade. Many employees of the Institute  propagandized  the Russian language and  culture in  Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary,  Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Germany,  Finland, Italy, England,  Afghanistan, Iraq,  Liberia  and other countries took  part in  Union and international scientific conferences. Today the collaboration has taken a new trend. In 1991 the Centre of the French language and Culture was set up with the aim of propagating The French language and culture. The centre has a rich library, as well as a record library. The study is designed and equipped with the help of the Municipality of  Leon, the associations “Leon – Yerevan” and Diaspora of Armenia. A Centre of the German language, where children from 7 to 14 have a chance to study German and the culture of the country, has been functioning since 1995 and is financed by the Hessen society.  The institute collaborates with educational institutions  of  CIS,   France,  Germany, etc. Every  year  the  best  students  and  teachers work  on probation in countries of the language they  study.  At  the same time  teachers from  abroad come to help  our  teachers and students to  integrate into the modern system of  higher education. The process is on and we already  feel the  results.
In  1997  together with the University “Paris-12” in the faculty of Romance – Germanic languages a new department was opened: French and International Trade.  The Graduates will get  a diploma  equal to the one of "Paris-12”.
Since 1997 a department for training professional interpreters has started to function within the framework of the programme of the European Union TACIS.
This year foreign language courses for managers and businessmen will be organized with the help of the European Union.
Direct contacts with the European Centre of Modern Languages attached to the European Council were established. The Institute was the first in Armenia to become a member of Frankophone association AUPELF – UREF in 1998.
