The old residence of Karahunch or “Zorats Carer” is 3 km to the north-east of Sisian on the right of Yerevan-Meghry highway. The Zorats Kar stones date back to the 2^nd millenium B.C. According to the scientists they were meant for astronomical observations. 

    According to academic Paris Heruni the observatory and Arastvats monastery were in this residence 7500 years ago B.C. In the result of ancient excavations tombs of 3-1 milleniums B.C. have been found. Ruins of dwellings and other constructions are preserved.

   The monument reminds of the west European, particularly English Stone Age structures.

   Karahunch occupies a huge area, and one may be greatly surprised with the results of the further excavations.
