Iris lycotis - this species is very rare
in Armenia. It may be found only in the vicinity of Darelegis.
Iris lycotis is a decorative flower. The period of blossoming is early spring.
Iris lycotis is included in the Red Data Book of Armenia
Iris elegantissima - this species was widely distributed in the Ararat foundation
area in the past. Nowadays the area of irises is distinctly reduced. It may
be found in the vicinity of Shirak and Yerevan. Iris elegantissima is a decorative
flower and very important material for selection of irises. The period of blossoming
is end of April and beginning of May. In the nature this species gives a wonderful
diversity of shapes and coloration.
Iris elegantissima is included in the Red Data Book of Armenia.

Salmo Ischchan gegarkuni is endemic to Lake Sevan. It is a medium
sized fish with silver scales, big black, sometimes orange or light pink spots.
Ischchan has 4 biotypes: S.i. ischchan, S.i. gegarkuni, S.i. anilewski, S.i.
aestivalis. The gegarkuni has a sharp chin and fusiform body. By length reaches
40cm, weight 400-600gram.
Barbus goktschaicus is endemic to Lake Sevan. The fish has a fusiform body with
black spots. The length varies between 8 to 30cm, weight is up to 500gram. There
are two pairs of barbels around the mouth, the dorsal flipper has a stiff ray.
It is hard to catch. These rare endangered species are included in the Red Book
of Armenia.

Hypericum perforatum

Hypericum perforatum belongs to the Hypericum family. It has deep bushes with completely opposed leaves. It is known about 300 types of hypericums. It is used as a medicine to prevent wounds, skin diseases and the inflammation. Thymus serpyllum belongs to the Lipflower family. It has opposed, rigid, small leaves and pleasant smell. There are 10 types of thymuses in Armenia, but the Transcaucasian and Birch types are used frequently. Thymus is used as a medicinal plant as well as a spice.

Galanthus Artjuschenkoae
Is a new type for Armenia. Is met only in two floristic regions, in the South and North of Armenia, in the oak-hornbeam forests with a large number of populations, also in the low and middle mountain zones.
Merendera Mirzoevae
The endemic and rare type in Armenia. There are only three small number of populations. Can be met in the floristic regions, grows in the dry mountainous slopes, in the low and middle mountain zones.

26 June 2003. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
In 1972 under the leadership of General Assembly of UN June 5th was proclaimed as a World Environment Day. The draining works of Lake Gilli started from 1959-1960. The decision of the establishment of the Sevan public park was made in 1978. By the same document lake Gilli should be rehabilitated in the park area. In 2000 started the rehabilitation processes and all planned works. The problem of lake Gilli was produced as an issue of global significance for the protection of biodiversity. Larus Armenicus. Charadriiformes type of birds. Wings are long and sharp. There are black and red colour blends on their beak. Their neck becomes perpendicular when they make voice. Both sexes have the same colour. Dominated white, brown and black colours. Seaside birds, inhabited on the shore of Lake Sevan. Registered in the Red Data Book of Armenia.

Voskehat (Kharji)
First time this grape was mentioned in the manuscripts. A unique type, is used in making table wines, shampagne and cognac.
Clusters are thick, has a golden colour, the sugar content is more than 20%. Spread in the Ararat plain and neighboring zones.
Black Areni
Former names were Black cross, Malakhi. One of the best grape varieties. Spread only on 500he. Is used for making dry red wines.

Prior to the 19th century Karabakh had a great and substantial influence in improving horse breeds, which gave the opportunity to breed a horse with the specific features called Karabakh horse. The Karabakh horse is not large, its build is peculiar to the saddle horses, it is sturdy, the muscles are well-developed, the head is small and has the expressive features, eyes are alert. The loin is straight, short wide, the chest is deep. The limbs are properly set, sometimes sworded, the skin is tin, hair-side is soft and gleamming, the hair of forelock, mane and tail is tin.
The colour is chestnut or bay with a charachteristic golden tint. The average measurements of stallions are: height at withers 147cm, oblique body length 149cm, chest girth 169cm, cannon bone girth 18.6 cm
