As of November 1, 1998, the population and labor resources of Armenia estimate 3,780,700 and 2,153,800 respectively. According to an Armenian Social Security Ministry employee, 183,100 persons have applied to the employment center. 179,100 (97.3 per cent) of them are unemployed. The labor force supply has increased by 8.6 per cent, 97 per cent (172,800) of the citizens having no job have got the status of unemployed. 122,000 (70.6 per cent) of them are women. The economically active population has made 1,578,200 or the 73.3 per cent of labor resources. Over the past ten months, the employment services have provided 3,800 citizens (2,400 of them are women) with job. During July-October, professional training courses have been organized for more than 150 unemployed people. Most of them are now employed.
